Play the Day™ - About Us
My vivacious* mom, Sydney Dickinson, coined the phrase Play the Day™ in 2010 and then shared it with everyone she knew, as well as complete strangers, while standing in the grocery store line, for example.
It is in her memory that I trademarked the phrase and decided to create products that are symbolic of her spirit and her motto.
Play the Day™ is applicable in many of life’s circumstances: spontaneity, perseverance, resilience, appreciation for the day you have, etc.
I hope you enjoy our line of products featuring Play the Day™ to help you remember to embrace this motto each day.
There are three themes that guide the products:
Respect for nature and the environment
My deep love of nature, which began as a child while camping with my parents, drives product choices that are environmentally friendly. For example, all paper products are made from 100% recycled paper.
Support for small businesses
Printing and design, as well as etched glassware products are produced by nearby local small businesses: MDCC and National Etching.
Contribution to local charities
My mom believed in supporting local charities, and she passed this value onto me. That's why 10% of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the Rivkin Center to support ovarian cancer research. This charity is important to me for two reasons: 1) My maternal grandmother died from this disease over 55 years ago; 2) My dear friend, Mary Anne, passed away in 2009 from ovarian cancer. To date, we still do not have an early detection test for this deadly disease!
I appreciate your business. It warms my heart to realize my mom is still sharing her motto:
Play the Day™!
