Nestled in the Washington State mountains, Play the Day® creates inspirational, eco-friendly gifts that help people find joy, strength, and beauty in everyday moments, even the hardest ones.

Our Story

Our name was born on a lonesome New Mexico highway, as my mom followed an ambulance carrying my dad. Gathering her strength, she gripped the steering wheel, looked at her dog, and made a choice as she exclaimed, “Lucy, we’re going to Play the Day®!”

That moment of spontaneous resilience became her personal motto—and eventually, a brand. To honor my mom's attitude and legacy, we create products symbolizing her vivacious spirit. Each one celebrates life’s joys, honoring small wins, and helping others rise above adversity.

To us, "Play the Day" is more than a phrase. It’s a way of life that embraces:

Sydney embraced spontaneous, joyful opportunities as reflected in the 2014 Super Bowl commercial below that aired in South Texas. She definitely played the heck out of that day!

Stacey's love for the outdoors began in childhood and grew into a passion for hiking, camping, and photography. All our recycled paper products feature original nature photography from her travels, reminding us that even in tough moments, beauty still surrounds us. These nature-inspired gifts encourage you to connect with the world around you and find peace in the wild.

Here’s how we show up:

  2. Eco-Coil bindings made from 96% post-consumer waste (USA-made)
  3. Glass over plastic products — always

Give Back

10% of proceeds from every sale are donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, specifically the Rivkin Pilot Grant program. This cause is close to our hearts—we’ve lost loved ones to this disease, and we’re committed to funding critical research until early detection and ultimately a cure is possible.
